It is situated in the South East of Tunisia. It occupies a strategic position in the middle of the Mediterranean basin. It is bordred to the North by the Governorate of Gabes and the Mediterraean Sea, to the South by the Governorate of Tataouine, to the East by Lybia and the Mediterranean, and to the West by the Governorate of Kebili. Its surface relief is composed of 3 natural zones: a mountainous zone, a coastal zone, and djeffara plain.
The Governorate of Medenine covers a total area of 9,167 km2 and has 09 delegations, 07 municipalities,and 07 rural councils.
